The Puzzle
Did you play with puzzles when you were a child? Have you ever interacted with the type that has very small pieces that it seems impossible to even count them? When I was younger, my cousin has a large box of puzzles with very small pieces. On the box was the picture of what the finishes picture would look like; the question in my mind was: is it even possible to put the pieces all together?
Life sometimes seem life a "Big Puzzle" with many "Tiny Pieces" that seem impossible to put in the right place. Would you agree? I do too, but what I also know is that is not necessary to be able to find all the right pieces to place in the right spaces. Then how will we see the actual picture, you may ask? The answer is: you can see it through the eyes of your FAITH.
Now, FAITH is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not yet seen.
- Hebrews 1:11 -
On this Blog Post we will be audacious enough to ask this possibly sensitive and troubling question. Depending on who you ask, you may get myriads of responses; yet, what we will strive for though is to have revelation of the truth about this question; and from whom will we receive this truth? From the Source...The Creator of the Universe.
To answer this question, here are a few practical and fool proof ways to approach the process.
1 – BE GENIUNE ABOUT KNOWING THE REASON LIFE WAS GIFTED TO YOU.
Any successful achievement begins with a goal. Having the desire to have something is a great catalyst to put you into action mode. That same goal must be a burning desire to have, or else it may very well evade you. It is the passion behind the quest that will guarantee success.
The Scripture teaches that:
"Whatever you do, do it with all your heart" (Colossians 3:23)
The heart is the life giving organ that we depend on to be alive at every moment. If the Scripture makes reference to the heart, then it suggests that what we do should be done as if our life depends on it.
Whether it is out of curiosity or frustration, the need to better understand the reason for and purpose of life is an insatiable hunger that humans experience whether or not we are willing to admit it. When the purpose of something is known and understood, it is better appreciated and utilized. There is a joyous satisfaction that is felt when you know that you know what you know. We have all experienced a moment like this, especially when we do well on an exam.
2 – SET A CLEAR PAGE HIERARCHY
After you have developed the overall goals and a blueprint with tips on creating a website for your business, the next step is making it easy for website visitors to find content. To do this, make sure your page hierarchy is clear.
Social Media Today suggests bucketing your content by theme and importance. Try physically drawing a plan as you create a high-level outline. Most people freeze up at this point so it’s important to visualize your website structure!
3 – KEEP IT (SO SO) SIMPLE
Simple design and text are essential to an effective small business website. An overly complicated website doesn’t convert. Too many page elements lead to website visitor confusion.
So, long story short, uncluttered visuals and text have the most significant impact on your audience. And, while we’re on the subject of simplicity, keeping your color scheme minimal is key, too. Two to three colors is all you need to make an impact.
Be pragmatic in your color selection and fortify the use of white space within your small business website design.
"This is not the time to show off your design acumen, with lots of distracting sounds and lights on the site and every icon known to web-kind,” says Nationwide.
4 – MAINTAIN WELL-DEFINED CALLS TO ACTION
As a small business, you don’t need to be coy, Roy. Clearly state what you want people to do.
Use phrases like, “Subscribe to our newsletter,” “Book your reservation now” or “Email us for a free quote today.” After you identify your page structure, sketch out your content sections and maintain well-defined CTAs, then layer in conversion opportunities like pop-ups, alert bars, and more! Your lead forms should be prominent and enticing as well.
5 – MAKE YOUR DESIGN RESPONSIVE
Did you know 90% of small business websites don’t keep the smaller devices’ screen size in mind when creating websites? And around 30% of all website traffic is mobile.
Before publishing anything on the web, always consider desktop and mobile devices. “Having a site that isn’t mobile optimized can drive away customers, hurt your SEO and look unprofessional,” notes Small Business Trends writer Ann Pilon.
